What’s Your Story – future programs to keep rolling out ground breaking game

It started sluggish with the release of Pocket Gems’ Instance in 2013, but the fast-growing nature of the market for interactive storyline software was underlined by Pixelberry’s successful 2016 release of Alternatives: Experiences You Play and the developer’s subsequent acquisition by Nexon.

Both games now sit rather in america top 30 top grossing graphs and both also broke in to the top 10 during January.

Yet Ludia CEO Alex Thabet looks anywhere else when citing creativity for the Montreal developer’s just-released interactive narrative game What’s Your Story Cheats.

“Kim Kardashian: Hollywood was a game that broke new floor,” he says of Glu’s celebrity-based strike.

And it’s an attempt to extend the scope of narrative storytelling by merging accessible IP with extras such as customisable avatars that characterises Ludia’s strategy.

“We want to take the best of the existing video games and create something new,” Thabet says.

Something for everyone

Given the company’s past use licensed IP which range from Jurassic Playground and Battlestar Galactica to THE PURCHASE PRICE is Right and Family Feud, it’s no real surprise Ludia is seriously leveraging its skills in creating game titles with big entertainment brands.

After all, that model has already been turned out successful with Episode dealing with brands such as Demi Lovato, Means Women and presently Pitch Perfect.

What’s Your Story Hack offers a more interesting and well-balanced mixture of IP; something that’s been chosen to appeal to a wide audience, both in conditions of gender and hobbies. This is backed in-app as players create an avatar at the start of each tale and can always decide on male or female options.

The overall game launches with experiences set in the worlds of Beverly Hills 90210, Scream, Task Runway and Divergent, with a great deal more to follow over coming months.

Thabet says early feedback from soft launch discovered players tended to keep within one story so an integral target since has gone to integrate mechanics that cause them to become play across stories.

Naturally, with only four stories at release, it’s much more likely Project Runway followers will enjoy Beverly Hillsides 90210, while those who accept the horror enigma of Scream should find similar pleasure in Divergent’s dystopian setting up.

A longer read

Utilizing these cross-story aspects and adding more content, scheduled to players were eating it faster-than-expected, pushed back the game’s unveiling a couple of months.

More generally, the level of the project is seen from the excess features including the capacity to customise your avatar with clothes and accessories, an in-game messaging system that introduces a new directness and cadence to the storytelling, as well as extras such as what Thabet phone calls “fun mental profiling” that derived from a player’s in-game actions.

For instance, in the Divergent tale, your choices result in the game letting you know which of the world’s five factions you would be. “It’s a bit of fun, and the players love it,” he explains.

Yet away from such enhancements, it will be the force to keep producing high quality content which will be Ludia’s priority over the coming a few months. It’s increased the development team four-fold and working with the usual array of entertainment-honed writers to ensure criteria are maintained.

Three-horse race

Certainly it will be interesting to observe how the game competes in a market dominated by two well-established titles. Thabet says he feels there’s enough progress in the sector and enough urge for food from players to experience several such game for everybody to find success.

And with future ideas to keep moving out innovative game features during 2018 alongside a lot more IP-based content, it looks like What’s Your Story? already has a good beginning and middle because of its own narrative arc.

What’s Your Story Cheats is out now on the App Store and Yahoo Play.
